6ft Closeboard fencing installation with wooden posts

New closeboard fence installed, Hungerford RG17

The client needed a sturdy 6ft boundary fence to replace an ageing one that had seen better days. The garden in Hungerford lacked privacy and security, so we were brought in to build something solid and long-lasting.

What we did

• Set mortised posts into the ground using concrete posts and postmix to create a stable foundation across the Hungerford property.
• Fixed arris rails horizontally between the posts to form the structural framework of the fence.
• Installed feather edge boards vertically along the rails, overlapping them slightly to shed water and give the classic closeboard appearance.
• Added gravel boards at the base to protect the lower section from ground moisture and rot.
• Used pressure-treated timber throughout to ensure the fence stands up to years of exposure to the RG17 weather.

The new 6ft closeboard fence was completed in 2 days on site, transforming the garden with a neat, professional finish. The pressure-treated timber and concrete posts mean the fence will resist decay and weather for years to come. The homeowner in Hungerford now has the privacy and security they wanted.
